916SPS (996cc) cam timing and mapping.

This is a stock 916SPS 1998 with open 50mm exhaust from factory

What we did was check the cam timing and adjust it to 109/109, a bit more than 10 degrees advance compared to what they were.

This bike has the P8 computer and eprom and that is how you remap it, by making new eproms.
This one had the standard 073 chip which is what they ship with for the open cans. I was under the impression this was a really good chip but when checked I was a bit unimpressed, wouldnt say its bad but it could be improved on at all points.

Result is the usual to expect from cam timing advance, more mid and sort of the same top end.
Roll-on feeling was very much improved but it's the sort of thing that wont show up in the dyno graph.
